Just a few weeks ago, a funny TV commercial of a local DSL company surprised the nation. While other brands bombard us with young women in bikinis in their ads, this one dared to be different. And it’s very witty too! Ladies and gentlemen, Video Chops presents internet’s newest sensation, Lola Techie!
Lola Techie is the grandmother of JR, who I assume is a teenager who’s been neglecting her lola for quite awhile now. Lola Techie uses her DSL connection to get her grandson’s attention – reprimanding him for ignoring her online. Their first video viral is about lola’s super poke and Youtube skills which was a super overnight hit. Once it hit Youtube last week, the video spread all over the net like wildfire.
Now, a new viral video is up! And we discover that Lola Techie also has a Twitter account!
Great TV ads come and go. But the marketing team of Bayan DSL took this brilliant concept to the next level. Now, Lola Techie is ACTIVE all over the net with constant updates on her Youtube, Facebook, Multiply, Twitter and Plurk account. “Ghost blogger” or not, Lola Techie‘s daily shout-outs certainly put smiles on faces of her followers.
After the second viral went online, I’m excited what Lola Techie might be doing next! But I’m sure JR’s not as enthusiastic about it as I am.
Online video blogging contests have been the latest craze for the past year – usually sponsored by big-time companies who wants their new service promos to spread like wildfire. But rarely do I see a video contest campaign that got the results they really want in terms of volume in entries. I avidly join these competitions and what I notice is that the participants who usually join are either bloggers, plurkers, or tweeters who creates their own videos. And they’re not that many. Even spending hundreds of thousands on a TV ad is not an assurance of large entry numbers.
Well it seems Globe knows that by now. While I was uploading the latest VideoChops archive clip, I was surprised by a cool flash advertisement on the side bar.
Hey! That’s Paramihan Challenge! And what better way to pick up lots of QUALITY entries than plug it on YouTube right? It makes the most sense, but most haven’t realized the simple brilliance of it. So I guess now we would expect a tougher batch of participants and video makers – and VideoChops will be on the look out of the ones that rock.
Now meetJohnny Stunts, the main man behind the Paramihan Challenge. Watch how many fishballs he could tusok-tusok with one stick:
